Role Overview: As the Geotechnical Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and stability of our underground operations. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee all geotechnical aspects, providing expertise, guidance, and strategic direction to optimize mining activities while ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive geotechnical programs to assess ground conditions, stability, and support requirements in underground mining environments.

  • Conduct geotechnical investigations, rock mechanics analysis, and recommend appropriate ground support designs to ensure safe mining operations.

  • Collaborate with mine planning and engineering teams to optimize stope design, pillar extraction sequences, and overall mine layout.

  • Monitor and analyze geotechnical instrumentation data to identify potential hazards and provide timely recommendations for risk mitigation.

  • Lead and mentor a team of geotechnical engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, excellence, and innovation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure geotechnical considerations are integrated into mining plans and operational activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related field.

  • Extensive (X years) experience in underground hard rock mining with a focus on geotechnical engineering.

  • Proficiency in geotechnical software and analysis tools (e.g., Rocscience, FLAC, Vulcan).

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

  • Thorough understanding of ground support systems, rock mechanics principles, and risk assessment methodologies.

  • NSW Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (highly preferred) or the ability to obtain one.
